Ammeter

An ammeter is a device used for measuring electric current. Ammeters are connected in series with a given circuit using two terminals (positive and negative). These terminals are connected to the positive and negative ends of a circuit respectively. Whenever current passes through an ammeter, it will cause a deflection in the measuring needle, showing the magnitude of the current.

Ammeters must have a much lower resistance compared to a load in the circuit so that current can pass through freely.

How to use an Ammeter in DCACLab

  1. Create a circuit of your choice. It doesn't have to be complex.
  2. Click or drag the ammeter from the toolbar.
  3. Position the ammeter in series with the circuit.
  4. Connect the positive terminal of the ammeter to the positive end of the circuit, and the negative terminal to the negative end of the circuit.
  5. View the current in the middle of the ammeter's screen.
